First time visit to the Cragwood. 3 night stay and cannot fault the hotel. Upon arrival, Helen at reception took time to show us around the hotel and take us to our room. Nice touch and a great first impression. Room was excellent with views of the garden and lake. Bar/restaurant/breakfast areas are all very intimate and in different parts of the hotel. I love this layout of smaller areas within the building. Restaurant and bar menu has all you need and we used both. Plenty of parking and space to walk around outside. Staff were brilliant, helpful, chatty attentive. Really enjoyable 3 stay.
We had our wedding here nov 25 and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue for us! The wedding team went above and beyond on multiple occasions from the first visit all the way to our big day. Communication was always prompt and clear. The food was exceptional and all the staff were wonderful to our guests, we keep hearing stories of positive interactions our guests had. The grounds provided a beautiful and whimsical backdrop for our pictures, with so many angles and corners that make every picture look stunning, even on a foggy day. There is a reason this team keeps receiving awards for their fantastic work ! If you are considering the Cragwood for your special day - we d say do it! Say yes to this venue and team <3
Lovely hotel, lovely people. Staff broke their backs for us over Christmas to provide a 5 Star service and experience! Beautiful location right on Windermere lake itself with stunning views of the area! Would definitely return to this hotel and cant thank them enough for their hard work! The kitchen staff and head chef provided superb food throughout our stay! Thank you all and hopefully see you again
Room was a bit tired and showing its age. Bathroom facilities were recently given a refurb and very clean as was the room. Staff were both knowledgeable and very attentive. The views of the lake were exceptional from hotel and grounds. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue to friends and family.
We have just celebrated our wedding reception at Cragwood. The hotel team were fantastic - great service, the food was so good, and the venue was just beautiful. The wedding coordinators were really helpful, and they decorated the reception areas beautifully for us, and we also had a lovely lakes cruise with canapes and drinks. Such a lovely experience. We had a wonderful three days with our friends and family and our much loved Border Collie who was made welcome with his own doggy treats. Thank you to team Cragwood. Julie and Martin 1st November.
Booked 1 night away here in January as we got a voucher bought for us for xmas. Only 10min drive from Bowness and Windermere. The grounds are lovely. Bet they're even better in Summer. Staff very polite and welcoming. Good size car park. We would definitely return.
2 AA rosettes? Crazy! This is better than 2 rosettes. One of the best meals I have had, and I have eaten in some great places. Amuse Bouche of a smoked haddock fish pie was so smooth and balanced in flavour and seasoning that I wanted more, a lot more. Starters on the menu didnt suit my dietary hangups so they produced a broccoli soup for me that was outragiously good. I expected a fairly bland soup as have been other broccoli soups I have had but no, this one had a base stock that was explosive in flavour, fromage frais to give it an edge and I think toasted almonds for texture, (and it was radioactive green). Together with the served warm breads (home baked?) and butter pat it was dreamy. Next Beef Cheek. Rich and beefy sauce with melt in the mouth meat, served with mushrooms and delightful garnish. Portions were expertly sized so despite the mounting courses and 'must finish everything' quality, the citrus and blueberry sorbet (ZING!!!) and the generous and indulget local cheeses cheeseboard that followed were a joy and not a stretch. Fabulous meal.
Had a lovely overnight stay at Cragwood Country House Hotel. We had a room with a terrace so very easy to walk the dog in the beautiful grounds next to the lake. Food was fantastic, not only was it delicious but each dish was so well presented it seemed a shame to eat it! Staff were all lovely, really friendly and couldn’t have done anymore to make you feel relaxed and welcome. Would highly recommend the hotel. Great location between Bowness and Ambleside with a ferry jetty just next door at Brockhole.
